Best Bookshops in Kuwait

I really like visiting book shops whenever I travel to any place. I like to read new books and novels but unfortunately the bookshops that sell them in Kuwait are limited.

Few days ago, I visited a public library; most of the books were old, whenever I opened a book I started sneezing. The science books seemed totally untouched, plus most of the books were from old editions.

I like colorful books with lot of illustrations, but most of the books I found were black and white. There were good new colorful books but you are not allowed to borrow them.

If you are looking for magazines you can only find a lot of Arabic magazines, plus they have internet service if you want to use the internet.

So if you're looking for a good book, but can't seem to find the one you want  then you can find listed below the best bookshops in Kuwait:

Al- Muthana Kuwait Bookshop
Al-muthana Kuwait bookshop or as we say it in Arabic ’Sharekat Al Maktabat Al Kuwatia’ which is located in Al-Muthana complex is the most popular bookstore in Kuwait especially for the foreigners. I found quite good books there. They have a nice collection of books, novels and magazines.

The good thing that you can order any book straight from the publisher from any country. They will charge you the cost of the book and the shipping fee.

They have a great selection of children's books. They have an entire range of books for the British IGCSE examinations. They also have the best travel books in Kuwait. The medical, technical and engineering sections are also very impressive; they have good selection of greeting cards and stationary.

The bookshop is located in the basement of Muthana Complex. They used to have a smaller branch in Al Soor Street. I think they still have it but I’m not sure. I didn’t go there long time ago.

Location: AL-Muthanna Complex, Fahed Al-Salem Street

Jarir Bookshop
jarirJarir book store in Hawalli is one of my favorite’s bookshops. It can be crowded sometimes. I find the Arabic section much better than the English section. But they have a lot of children books in both Arabic and English languages. Also their magazines section is good.

What I like about Jarir bookshop is the hobby section which will help you a lot if you have a hoppy. They have also sculpted art pieces. They also have a computer section and a stationary section. They have a wide variety of Middle Eastern cookbooks Religious books and other things to learn about Middle Eastern culture.

virgin-megastore
Virgin Bookstore

This indeed is an excellent bookstore. They have a huge selection on many topics in both Arabic and English. They have a wide selection of CDs, English and Arabic books, games, DVDs, accessories, English and Arabic magazines.

Q8books – Second Hand Books

If you would like to buy second hand books I would suggest Q8books. They also have new books. They’ve got a good collection of books available and the prices are reasonable. They also buy back your second hand books.
